Sales team

When I took over the sales team at Hello Retail , it didn’t feel like a proper team. It felt like a room full of individuals. Everyone focused on their own patch, their own deals, their own quota. I realized quickly: I couldn’t fix this with more 1:1s. We needed a way to get people want to push each other forward. So, I started with culture. (Probably the dummest if you wanted short term results) We built rituals. Habits. Trust. I introduced “show-off your nation.” I went first, Icelandic lamb dinner and sauna & ice bath. After that, we had Italian cooking classes. Danish delicacies. Coming up: Dutch Gourmetten. Food unites. But it didn’t stop there. Reps started celebrating wins together. Some hit the steakhouse after a strong month. Others built routines outside of work, calisthenics sessions, group workouts. Inside the office, something else shifted. People started sharing best practices openly. Not just what worked for them, but what could help the whole team. We created a space where winning wasn’t about ego. It was about multiplying wins. And here’s the truth: The more you focus on wins, the more you win. Momentum compounds. I’m most proud when I see reps helping new hires before I even ask. When someone’s down, others notice, and they step in. That’s not a quota target. That’s Gourmetten. Yes, we’ve changed our sales process. Yes, we’ve gone upmarket and introduced new assets. But none of that would have survived without culture first. Every initiative dies if the team doesn’t believe in each other first. We’ve come far. But we’re still nowhere near our full potential. The foundation is laid. Now the real growth begins. This is what building a winning system looks like. Not just for next month’s quota. But for the long term.
